Peru: an immersion in Inca history
Our journey begins in Peru, a country where every corner seems to tell a story. Lima, the vibrant capital, welcomed us with its mix of modernity and history. The colorful streets of Barranco and the culinary delights enchanted us during our three nights there.
Then we headed to Arequipa, nicknamed the “white city.” Overlooked by majestic volcanoes, its architectural beauty captivated us. In Cuzco, another must-see stop, we visited the Plaza de Armas, the Temple of the Sun, and of course, prepared for our excursion to the legendary Machu Picchu.
And what an emotion it was to stand before this Inca citadel, like shadows from the past, rising in the clouds! From there, a bus journey took us to Puno, on the shores of the sublime Titicaca Lake. We explored the floating islands of the Uros, discovering their traditional way of life.
Bolivia: a fascinating adventure land
After crossing the border, Bolivia unveiled grand landscapes to us. La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, fascinated us. We wandered through its silver streets that cascade down, discovering colorful markets and fascinating cultures. A night bus then took us to Uyuni.
- The Salar de Uyuni: a breathtaking salt desert.
- The multicolored lagoons: a landscape resembling a living painting.
- Sud Lipez: an adventure among geysers and hot springs.
In the heart of a 4×4, we explored these wonders, complicating our bearings with changing and spectacular panoramas. Each step was a new discovery, a true initiation journey. Bolivia is truly a paradise for nature lovers!
Chile: from deserts to mountains
Our journey then took us to Chile, particularly to San Pedro de Atacama, one of the driest regions on the planet. In a 4×4, we explored the Valley of the Moon, amazed by its unique rock formations. The beauty of this desert contrasts with the lush oases we discovered nearby.
The starry nights in San Pedro left us speechless, offering a spectacle that few places in the world can match. In Pica, a small hidden oasis, we tasted fresh fruits under the palm trees. It is here that one truly understands the vastness of this country’s depth.
Our adventure continued in Iquique, where the sea meets the desert, then in Antofagasta. In this ocean of contrasts, each city is unique, but all share a harmonious beauty.
Argentina: land of glaciers and fjords
Then we crossed the border into Argentina. In Buenos Aires, we got a glimpse of the tango culture, with its vibrant colors and diversity. A quick but intense stop before taking a flight to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.
In the fascinating Tierra del Fuego, we explored the fjords and glaciers, particularly the Perito Moreno. This giant of ice is a true natural spectacle, creating deafening noises as chunks of glacier break off and fall into the water. Unforgettable memories!
Before concluding our journey in Punta Arenas, we took the time to explore the Torres del Paine National Park, a true gem of Patagonia. This last stop was the crowning moment of a journey filled with wonder.
