I don’t know if it’s American humor, or if there are people who really thought about going for a swim: At Niagara Falls we tell you not to jump: it’s is dangerous!
Our arrival at the falls
Let me tell you about this hotel… 4 stars they said. When the woman at reception asked the cleaning man if there were two free rooms, despite our reservation, it began to confirm our suspicions. Then when we saw him running off with a vacuum cleaner, and coming out of our room five minutes later…
We finally found rooms in a more than nice hotel. And from there, we had a blast for four days.
We went to eat in the skylone tower, and I highly recommend it. A great experience but one that hurts the wallet. The Skylone Tower restaurant is located around 230 m away, obviously “there is a beautiful view from the top”. Each table is located near a window, and the restaurant rotates slowly, so that each customer can admire the falls during the meal. Ingenious!
So, it makes for cool photos and the food was good. As a digestive walk, we strolled around the falls. This is when you become aware of the “danger, do not jump” sign. The power of water is incredible. Faced with such a spectacle, the father could not hold back his joke: “Imagine the guy’s face, relaxed in a canoe-kayak, he turns around and sees the fall…”. At the same time, finding yourself in a canoe in front of a 57 m waterfall can be impressive.
Niagara Falls Wow!
I was very surprised that there was only a small barrier separating the sidewalk from the highest point of Canadian Falls. This one is also called the horseshoe, it is much more imposing than the US waterfall, although they are almost 3 m the same height. In fact, the Canadian Falls is much wider (750 m compared to 330 m), and is completely vertical. Contrary to what you may hear, the Niagara Falls (57 m for the highest) are not the largest in the world, it is the Salto Angel in Venezuela with a height of 979 m… just that. If Niagara Falls is so well known it is for its power. With a flow of more than 2 million liters of water per second, these are the most powerful falls in North America.
We wanted to see the falls from all angles, so we took the boat, the famous Maid of the Mist. It brings you as close as possible to the American Falls and into the Horseshoe Basin. The walk lasts 30 minutes. I must admit that I was a little disappointed. It remains to be done, but don’t expect an incredible view, the mist is much too strong. If you go there and the sun is not out, be careful, you will come out soaked!
Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful things my eyes have seen. I highly recommend the trip.
