Difficult draw for Montpellier
On the occasion of its big return to the Champions League, everything seems to indicate that what awaits the Montpellier handball team is far from being an easy task. Indeed, the Montpellier club which has been conspicuous by its absence until now has benefited from selection for the next European competition. The draw took place on Friday in Vienna, which meant that the Hérault team inherited a particularly difficult confrontation.
The Montpellier residents will have to meet Veszprem (the semi-finalists) as well as the Germans from Rhein-Neckar Löwen who we remember seriously shook the Barça team during the quarter-final which took place in April. It is important not to underestimate the Slovenes (from Celje) or the Russians (from Chekhov) or the formidable and no less famous Macedonians (from Vardar Skopje).
What’s new for Northerners?
Champion of France for the very first time, the fact remains that the Dunkirk handball team will have to work extra hard to leave group D. Consequently, the Northerners will face, just like the previous year, the Kielce team. As a reminder, the Dunkirks won 30-25. Apart from the Polish team, the Northerners will also have to take into consideration the presence of Pick Szeged’s team which won the EHF Cup.
Paris will also have a lot to do!
It goes without saying that the Parisian handball players are not spared, because they have inherited group A, which means that they could well face Kiel to obtain first place!
Although having shown some bad luck at the start, the German club benefits from some talented new players including the formidable Croatian Domagoj Duvnjak as well as of course his excellent Spanish counterpart who is none other than Joan Cañellas
